What's happening at Madeline Island Yacht Club.

New Year, New Leadership

The board of the Madeline Island Yacht Club is enormously pleased to announce the appointment of Elena Erickson as General Manager of the club’s operations, effective immediately. 

Elena has for the last two years served the club as Business Manager, assuming in that time a growing list of responsibilities, projects, and leadership that led to this appointment. 

The board also in the new year promoted Nick Colberg, the shop project coordinator the past year, to Shop Manager. He joins Store Manager Mazie Ashe in club management. 

“With Elena as General Manager, working with Nick and Mazie, the board is more tightly focusing management leadership and responsibility for the club,” said Commodore Tom Penn. “This team will make us stronger in 2023 and beyond. We are thrilled.” 


Slip Lease Agreements 2023 

Slip agreements for the 2023 season have been emailed to you. You can sign and pay with a Credit Card or select the Check/Cash/ACH option. If you have any questions or prefer a paper copy mailed to you, please call or email Elena. The deadline for everyone to return the signed agreement is February 15th. Payment for the 2023 season is due by April 1. 


Painting, stocking, prepping 

The club’s winter projects are well underway — from the shop, which has shifted its work largely indoors, to the store and office, all working to to get ready for spring’s splashing of boats. 

Already, the store is in full-blown beautification. The 1970s-vintage brown paneling has been painted a welcoming, warm white; repainting of the floor followed. A new scanning system to improve inventory and sales is ready. And we are fortifying stocks, with pallets arriving regularly. In addition to the usual marine supplies, the club is stocking the place with the additional resources of a general store. Last summer we added wine, beer and sandwiches; this winter we’re adding more groceries such as milk, sausage, cheese, ravioli, and frozen pizza. This restocking will be an evolving project.
